Belvedere:
History &
Romance

Our Story

A coastal Maine wedding venue today, Belvedere was built in 1847 as the home of Captain Everett Staples and his wife, Mary.
Nestled on the side of a rolling hill, the home overlooks Stockton Harbor in Stockton Springs, Maine, easily accessible but tucked away in secluded beauty.

The formal English gardens feature the large bubbling fountain, surrounded by hydrangeas.
The meadow gardens feature several walking paths among lilies, dahlias, lupines, and decorative trees. Tucked in the woods is a shaded zen garden. And at the base of the estate is the beautiful temple garden, dedicated to love and lovers.

And on your wedding day, this historic home is the perfect venue for you and your partner.

Your special day starts in Belvedere’s formal parlor, a gracious spot to get ready with your closest friends. Your guests will gather on the front lawn, overlooking the rolling gardens.
Down the stone steps from the double front doors, your wedding party descends to the altar. Your vows are exchanged and then the real fun begins.

While your guests enjoy cocktails and make their way to the reception lawn, you’ll have full access to the gardens for photography among the flowers, temple, and fountain.

Then your party continues under the stars or in a convenient shady tent, celebrating your love with the most special people in your lives.

Harbor love.
